Great news!! We have one new loon chick born to the north loon pair and the parents have been positively identified by their leg bands as the same loon pair that has occupied that platform for the past four years. The south pair also have one chick and the female has also been identified as the banded Intermediate Lake loon which took up residence here four years ago. Her mate is not banded so we can only guess if he has been here before. The north chick was born about a week after the south chick but it will take another two weeks before the chicks will be diving so keep your eyes peeled and slow it down a bit at night. Thanks to all for your interest in this most important project on Six Mile Lake!
