SML Members Enjoy a Day of Golf together
Even with a little over a one hour rain delay, a fun day was had by the members that attended the SML Association 2015 Golf Outing. Antrim Dells Golf Course was in great shape for the 18 hole scramble format competition. Five foursomes, beginning in a shotgun start, made it through three holes before the skies looked very threatening and drove them off the course. The golf Gods were with the group as they went back on the course when the weather cleared, the day became sunny and warm.
A few fun holes were thrown in, one playing alternate shots, another playing a 7 iron all the way to the green, then using the driver to putt. Two holes had a tiki torch placed in the fairway, the the person hitting closest to the tiki torch won two of them.
There was some great golfing! If you know Antrim Dells, we had two birdies on the par 4 #18…now that is tough. The winning team, with members Leon and Adele Steenbergh and their friends, Phil Reed and Bev Fikse, scored a 71, won lowest putts with 25, and won one skin. Tony Malkowski’s team came in second with a 74 and won one skin, and the team of Tom Kreuze, Tom Kupovits, Preston Saenz and Wally Tiefenthal, had the third lowest score with a 77, and won four skins. The Brent/Linda Paterson, Bob/Sue Lewis team scored an 80. The last team was a twosome – Tom and Cindy Dietz scored an 82 all by themselves. Their partners had to cancel at the last minute due to a family emergency.
Closest to the pins went to Tom Kreuze (2), Phil Reed and Richard Casserole. Bev Fikse won both closest to the torches.
The group, along with some of the wives that didn’t golf and our President Cheri Hogan enjoyed a dinner at the course afterwards. There was discussion at the dinner about next year’s golf outing, which may be a nine hole format, lunch after and a boat tie up party in the lake after! We hope to see many more of you join us next year.
