Chili Supper is almost here!

Dear SMLA friends,
Fall is here and so is our chili supper. This year we’ll be welcoming back some fun
activities, most notably the silent auction (with proceeds going to support SMLA). Bring
a “treasure” from your house that you are ready to part with that someone else might
enjoy taking home. Sheets will be available to record your bids and the winners will be
announced after dinner.
Speaking of dinner, do make and bring your favorite chili recipe or dessert recipe and
enjoy sampling others’ delicacies. Paper votes will select “First Place” in both
categories, with the cooks winning a free year’s membership in SMLA. Regarding
memberships, dues ($25) should be paid at the dinner, if you haven’t already done so.
Another popular activity at the Chili Supper is the 50/50 raffle, with half going to the
lucky ticket holder and half going to support SMLA activities.
New this year is a perennial plant exchange. If you are thinning your gardens, this is the
perfect time to swap with other SMLA gardeners and increase the beauty of your
plantings. If you’d like to make a cut flower arrangement to decorate the tables, that
would be great also.
Anyone able to help set up and decorate for the event, please contact Kathryn Bell (cell
517-425-1390, house 231-544-1040). We’ll meet at the church at 3:30 for an early start
to the fun and fellowship that the supper always provides. Let Kathryn know if you will
be bringing chili, dessert, or ?. Drinks are provided by SMLA. (As we’re at a church,
they’ll be non-alcoholic).
Hope to see all of you on Saturday. We have so many new neighbors on the lake and
it’s the perfect opportunity to meet everyone.
