Attention Six Mile Lake Members and Residents,
The next meeting of the Charlevoix County Board of Commissioners is this next Wednesday August 26th at 6pm at the Shirley Roloff Center 13513 Division St in Charlevoix. Show up if you want to make your voices heard on the Special Assessment District these commissioners are and have been considering the POSSIBILITY of joining with Antrim County.
News here is that three inches of rain fell Friday in a little over an hour. Simons Rd at the corner of Six Mile Lake Rd across from Echo Twp Park had just been cleaned out by the Antrim County Road Commission and the culvert cleared. Guess what? All that work was completely obliterated, the ditch and culvert is filled in and the water and sand pouring down Simons Rd across Six Mile Lake Rd took out part of the driveway at the park under the heavy concrete barrier. Six Mile Lake is on the rise again but not as bad as at the beginning of July because we have had almost no rain since then and the lake had a chance to drain somewhat. However it’s been extremely slow and measurements taken on either side of the Ellsworth culvert show only a one inch drop which demonstrates clearly the need for dredging in order to start moving water out of Six Mile and St. Clair Lakes or we will flood again.
There’s additional information still forthcoming but in the interest of getting the information out for those planning on attending the meeting this Wednesday there will be another post later this week.
