Hello Members and friends,
On Saturday August 13th join us for the SMLA Annual Picnic held every year at Echo Twp Park on Six Mile Lake Rd. Bring a dish to pass and your beverage and table service. The Association chefs, which are the best in the business, will be grilling the hot dogs and brats. The event starts at 4:30. If you have an extra table please bring it as we may need it for prizes. Yes, we will have a raffle and everyone gets a free ticket. We have some really great prizes this year donated by one of our most cherished couples, the Batkas, who are leaving the area and will surely be missed. Kathryn Bell has been in charge of gathering the prizes for the past several years and does a phenomenal job. Anyone else who would like to contribute an item from their ‘time to go to a new home’ collection please bring it disguised in a brown paper bag and add it to the raffle. In other words bring something fun, useful and nice to contribute but only if you want to. We had a riot with this a few years back. I got a battery operated hand held car vacuum complete with the dirt from the former owners car!!! Seriously though…there are going to be very nice ‘one of a kind’ prizes this year so plan on coming. This is also a great time to meet new neighbors and fellowship with old friends and the food is simply the best!
A couple other things to note here. We are making a couple of small changes to the bylaws and will have copies at the picnic with a vote for approval at the October Chili Supper. Also, nominees for the board will be announced/introduced at the picnic.
