Greetings Members,
As I am writing this to you this November 5th it is almost 70 degrees outside, sunny, and beautiful! Last night the stars were so bright and there were so many stretching across the black sky to the dark surface of Six Mile Lake that it looked like God had flung thousands of sparkly diamonds everywhere. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. We saw falling star after falling star and this morning walked out on the deck into absolutely gorgeously warm summer temps. This has been a very unusual fall indeed with only a couple of nights of really cold temps and relatively mild weather. It can be hard to fathom that in three months we will be buried in several feet of snow, the lake will be frozen, and we will be counting the days until Spring!
On that note, after the wonderful Chili Supper, that Raia and gang put on for members a few weeks ago, you won’t want to miss the Christmas Party coming up on Saturday, December 12th at 5pm at the Blue Pelican Restaurant in downtown Central Lake. If you missed last year’s party then you won’t want to miss this one. From 5pm-7pm is cocktail hour. A cheese and cracker appetizer platter will be there for snacking and after dinner enjoy a variety of cheesecakes for dessert. Dinner choices are;
1) peppered flat iron steak (similar to sirloin) with mashed potatoes
2) herb-crusted walleye served with sweet potatoes
3) chicken piccata (2-sauteed chicken breasts with mushrooms, garlic and capers in a white wine and butter sauce) served over linguini.
A dinner salad is also included. Cost is $31.00 per person and includes tax & gratuity. Cash bar is extra. The Association has reserved the large glassed in porch for this event. Last year it was beautifully decorated and made for a festive occasion. We are hoping for 50-60 in attendance. Please contact Cherie Hogan at 231-676-9969 to reserve your space.
